Foo Fighters Drummer Taylor Hawkins Dead!

We were devastated at My Drum Lessons to hear that the amazing Foo Fighters drum legend Taylor Hawkins has suddenly died. We have tickets to see him play in France and London later this year. He was just 50 years old and although no cause of death has been given we rumours that he had a heart attack whilst in is hotel room in Colombia where he was due to perform. We can’t imagine what his family, Dave Grohl and the band must be going through and send our best wishes to them. Such a great drummer, man, band member, musician and friend to us all.

Many people are asking how did Taylor Hawkins die, but so far there is no official statement. We have heard that it was a heart attack whilst playing a gig.

The band also said they were “devastated by the tragic and untimely loss” in a statement on social media. No official cause of death has been given. Taylor Hawkins played drums with Foo Fighters for more than two decades, joining shortly after they finished making their 1997 album The Colour and the Shape.

The band are currently on tour in South America. “His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live with us forever,” Foo Fighters wrote.

“Our hearts go out to his wife, children, and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.” Foo Fighters were formed in 1994 by drummer Dave Grohl, after his previous group Nirvana disbanded following the suicide of lead singer Kurt Cobain.
