Nirvana Drummer Wants Band Reunion

Thursday, July 31st, 2014

Nirvana’s original drummer Chad Channing has stated that he would love to have a band reunion with the surviving members.

Channing gave his drumming talents to the band’s debut album Bleach. He also provided some material and contributions on “Polly” off of their second record Nevermind. He left in 1990, and Grohl then filled his spot.

In speaking of a possible Nirvana reunion, Channing claimed, “Yeah, if they wanted me to. It’d maybe be something like Dave playing guitar and singing and Krist doing bass. That’d be about the only arrangement I could think of that we could pull off.”

The drummer is now the frontman for Before Cars, who have released two records – Old Chair EP (2006) and Walk Back (2009).

The interview touched on the recent Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction that took place earlier this year, which didn’t include Nirvana’s Channing, despite originally saying that he’d be included. When asked about the snub, the drummer responded, “I’m fine about it actually. I’ve always sort of felt that for me, everything’s so much more about the music than the accolades.”

What a decent drummer Chris is. He could easily have been rude about Dave Grohl. Well done and keep on with the drums.
