Why should you learn to play drums?

Posted Under: Beginners Music

Aside from the obvious benefits of filling your home with the sounds of live drums played by you, learning to play an instrument offers many other benefits for your mind, body, and soul. It’s a great cardiovascular workout, so beats the gym. Learning it can be fun, too. Practicing drums each day is a great way to combat boredom and enjoy yourself, even if you’re alone. And when you can pick up an instrument and join in on a jam, your social life is bound to improve. Even in the time of digital socializing, there are many opportunities to meet and collaborate with others who are learning the same instrument or want to join together and make music for fun.

Playing drums can make you smarter. Research tells us that learning to play drums enhances verbal memory, spatial reasoning, and literacy skills. When you are enjoying the process of drumming, you are actually using both sides of your brain at the same time, strengthening the brain’s ability to operate at peak performance.
