How To Do Drum Lessons Online
Online lessons are not so easy on the drums. The main issue being the audio. Mobile phone mics aren’t great for this and if you plug in a mic to your phone you will lose the sound of the student. We suggest if possible use a computer attached to a mixing desk for your output with an electric kit or standard drums mics connected. We also suggest using a headset with a mic attached for you to hear the student and so your voice is clear. Also think about:What video, audio mics, sound mixing, computer/phone you have.
- How technical you are in relation to the equipment you use.
- What software or apps you have for video conference.
- If using an electric kit, will your outputs match your mixer.
- If you want to keep it simple sometimes you can do online lessons using just a mobile phone, although this can be a challenge, especially in relation to sound!
- And most importantly, what your student uses, as they are often the weak link!! Get them to use a headset with a long cable if possible, connected to their phone.
