Drumstick maker Van Howick launches in the UK
At just over two months old, Van Howick has launched in the UK this month, bringing an eye-catching range of drumsticks to the market. Sheffield based Van Howick was created by two former studio owners who wanted to give drummers a product with ‘personality as well as quality’.
“No two drummers are the same, so why is it that all sticks look identical? Having been in studios and selling, we wanted to create a range that not only stands out on the shelf, let’s drummers express themselves, but also gives stockists a good chance to succeed. We feel that our stuff does that,” Van Howick’s director, Luke Sanderson, told MI Pro.
The firm says that endorsements are currently in the pipeline to help raise the company’s profile, targeting primarily indie/rock genres. But until contracts are signed, Van Howick cannot disclose who will be involved.
The current range offers the main choices for the majority of drummers, with six oval tipped models ranging from 7A to 2B and three round tipped pairs with jazz and rock sizes included. Future plans include specialist sticks and accessories.
“Both Ryan (co-founder) and I not only have plenty of studio and retail experience, but we’ve both worked in marketing capacities for several years, so we know it’s important to get brand advocates on board,” detailed Sanderson. “Being a new business, our budget means we’ll be using innovative ideas to get customers shouting about Van Howick, something which should impact sales.”
