Profile on top session drummer Steve Gadd
Yesterday we told you about a drummer concert in May in the UK with Steve Gadd and friends for our drum teachers and their students. Today we are running a profile on some of the drummers that will be performing at the event. Steve Gadd (Eric Clapton/James Taylor/Paul Simon/Chick Corea) One of the most accomplished, most well-known and highly regarded session and studio drummers in the industry. His seminal sound and signature style have influenced and inspired drummers across the globe. He easily bridges different musical styles – quite simply he can play anything. He is just about to release his new album ’70 Stong’.
Steve White (Paul Weller / Style Council / The Who / Oasis / La Roux) His cultured drumming has been the pillar of strength behind many of the UK’s most successful artists for the last three decades. A legend within the drumming community, he remains passionate about education and appears at drum clinics across the country always keen to inspire and support the next generation of drummers.
Pete Cater (Pete Cater Big Band/ Glenn Miller Orchestra/ Matthew Herbert) One of the most sought after sticksmen on the jazz scene today. He has played with just about every big band in London and currently leads the popular ‘Pete Cater Big Band’ who won the Big Band of the Year in the British Jazz Awards 2000 and the Critic’s Choice the following year.
Ian Palmer (The Ghosts / Georgie Fame / Julian Smith / Alan Skidmore) He plays practically every style of music from rock and pop to jazz and classical, playing alongside many leading and household names. Ian has been the driving force behind the ‘World’s Greatest Drummer’ events since 2007 and is also a senior first officer for Virgin Atlantic Airways.
