Who’s drummer Keith Moon’s drum kit up for sale
A drum set once owned by Keith Moon, the drummer with The Who, is to be sold at auction. The Who drummer was known for wrecking his drums while performing. It is expected to fetch at least £20,000. A sale in 2004 saw a Keith Moon kit go for £120,000. The 1964 Ludwig Super Classic kit that is now on sale is unusual in that he did not smash it up on stage.
Moon developed a reputation for wrecking his drums while performing and wrecking hotel rooms on tour, smashing up TVs. He died of a prescription drug overdose at the age of 32 in 1978. The drum kit, which he first used in 1964 before the group changed its name from the High Numbers to The Who, will go under the hammer at Bonhams in London on December 10.
