Who is playing at Download 2015?
My Drum Lessons have been informed that favourites to play Download 2015 are Muse, Slipknot and KISS at next year’s Download Festival. The usually very reliable eFestivals website (via Birmingham Mail) has the three acts listed as “to be confirmed” for the festival, which will take place between 11th-14th June 2015.
Corroborating the rumors is was Tweet posted by KISS bassist Gene Simmons on Tuesday (11th November), which appeared to show the poster for Sunday’s line-up. If the poster is legit, then fans can expect a Sunday headliner from KISS, with support from Motley Crue, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators and Enter Shikari. However, Simmons’ post has since been deleted, with Download organizer Andy Copping claiming that KISS will not be playing.
While KISS and Slipknot are Download veterans, Muse have never previously performed at the event, which takes place in Derbyshire, England. The band, who have courted massive mainstream success with the release of their past few albums, don’t necessarily seem like a natural fit for what is essentially a hard rock and heavy metal festival. As the Birmingham Mail speculates, if the rumors are true, then the headlining performance may hint at a heavier direction for the band’s upcoming album. Muse recently revealed that their as yet untitled 7th record is being produced by Robert “Mutt” Lange, who produced AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell” and “Back in Black” albums.
Who would you like to play there?
