Primus Drummer Tim Alexander Suffers Heart Attack

Monday, July 21st, 2014

Veteran Primus drummer Tim Alexander has suffered a heart attack and will undergo open-heart surgery this week.

The news was revealed in a Facebook post by experimental band Puscifer. Alexander has drummed on several of the Maynard James Keenan-led group’s albums, including its 2007 debut, “V Is for Vagina.”

“Calling All Cars! Rough news. @timalexander suffered a heart attack. Open Heart Surgery on Mon/Tues. Global Positive Thoughts, Por favor. @Puscifer We need our Herb the Ginseng Drummer aka Peter Merkin alive and thieving,” the Facebook post read.

Alexander is perhaps best known as the on-again, off-again drummer for Primus. Since first joining the rock band in 1988, he’s left and rejoined the group numerous times. Overall, the drummer has played on seven Primus albums, including “Sailing the Seas of Cheese” (1991) and Pork Soda (1993).

Alexander has also worked with A Perfect Circle and the Blue Man Group in Las Vegas.
